DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL
POSITION:
Direct Support Professional, CLASS, Alliston
PURPOSE:
The purpose of this position is to provide monitoring and support of people with
developmental disabilities while ensuring a happy, healthy and safe environment in accordance with the CLASS mission statement which advocates an inclusive community where everyone is valued, diversity is a strength and all live with
dignity.”
EDUCATION:
- Minimum high school education, preferably enrolled in post-secondary institution in social services or related field (DSW, PSW, CYW)
- Valid First Aid and CPR Certificate
- Recognized NVCI training, where applicable.
- Valid Ontario driver's licence (G or G2)
EXPERIENCE:
Three months experience supporting people with developmental disabilities. Volunteer work and personal experience may also be considered.
REPORTING TO:
Residential Supervisor or designate
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support people in living fulfilled lives
- Provide input into, and implement, the Person Directed Plans (PDP);
- Complete the administration, documentation and monitoring of the provision of medication and nourishment;
- Maintain accurate, updated records for the documentation of the provision of daily care and on-going supports;
- Purchase groceries and supplies in accordance with the meal plan, the needs of the people we support, and the budget;
- Shop for and with the people we support, retain receipts, and documentation expenditures;
- Develop and maintain positive communication styles with all people we support, professional services, families, community members and staff;
- Provide transportation as required;
- Work with others to maintain a clean and safe environment while following WHMIS and health & safety standards and practices in accordance with current legislation; and
- Cooperate and participate in training and educational activities as required.

The Community Living Association for South Simcoe (CLASS) provides services and supports to people with developmental disabilities in the Alliston, Tottenham, Bradford and Everett areas.
We offer a variety of accommodation options and programs to youth and adults that provide inclusion for people with a developmental disability and enable them to live, work and participate in a wide range of activities in their communities.
