Residential Counsellor, New Leaf: Living and Learning Together Inc. (New Leaf) , Queensville
ABOUT NEW LEAF:
New Leaf: Living & Learning Together Inc.(New Leaf)’s Mission is to: Provide a safe home to, and enrich the lives of, individuals with developmental disabilities in a unique sensory and natural environment.
New Leaf aims to provide quality supports and services that offer a rural option to individuals with a developmental disability, dual-diagnosis (developmental disability and a mental illness / challenging behaviour), and/or other complex needs. We embrace the values of connections, diversity, equity & inclusion, mutual respect, respect for the environment and safety in all of our services and supports, New Leaf assists individuals to live, work and play as valued members of society and their community.
Our original property is a 112-acre farm at 19601 Leslie St., Queensville. This site includes a barn; recreation centre; indoor pool; greenhouse; café and woodshop. Our 13 supported living homes are located in north-east York Region and south-east Simcoe.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- A diploma or degree in human or social services or equivalent experience
- Experience providing support for those with developmental support needs is preferred
- Sound understanding of the biological, psychological and social factors affecting people with developmental disabilities and/or dual-diagnoses or challenging behaviours
- Knowledge of behaviour intervention best practices
- Valid Ontario Driver’s License and maintenance of an acceptable driving record
- Completed Criminal Reference Check for the vulnerable sector
ADDITIONAL ASSETS:
- Strong oral and written communication skills as well as demonstrated sound judgment and analytic skills
- Sound assessment and life planning skills
- Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills
- Dependability and good work ethics and practices
- Computer literacy

Since 1984 New Leaf: Living and Learning Together Inc. has been providing services and supports in the community to persons who have an intellectual disability and a dual diagnosis (developmental disability and accompanying mental health or behavioural issue).
Based around a 112-acre working farm, the individuals we care for enjoy the benefits of rural living while being supported in their efforts to be recognized as valuable members of their community.
